Reading on the potty

Alexa is already showing a deplorable tendency to read on the toilet. Since she doesn't go potty there, she may as well get something done!

Alexa and her hat

Here is Alexa clowning around with a hat. She was watching herself in the mirror and laughing at herself.

Car troubles, David's birthday etc.

So today is the 32nd anniversary of the arrival in this world of David Herbert Foster. Unfortunately at the wise old age of 32, David is losing his memory. I got up this morning, dressed Alexa and combed her hair. I returned to the living room after my shower and discovered Alexa in a different outfit. David claims that the outfit I had originally dressed her in looked like pajamas and this caused him some confusion. The van is in the shop for a stuck partially open side door, and while there is also having transmission fluid replaced and a new battery put in. David has requested pancakes for his birthday instead of a nice meal at a restaurant. This is somewhat strange to me, but definately easier on the ol' pocketbook. We purchased a piano this last weekend. They originally planned to deliver today, but since I haven't heard from them, I am assuming something has altered that arrangement. Well, I am due to be picked up in a moment by the shuttle from the Honda dealer, so this is all the random news I will share for now.

Some more pictures of the cutest child ever.

No exciting news for the day so far, but I did want to put some of these cute Alexa pictures up. She likes reading and rocking in the recliner like mom and dad do. She also loves to watch her Curious George cartoon on the computer, but it looks so much better if you stand on the chair. We have made a new rule that she can only watch her DVD once a day now. She was becoming a little addict and I don't really think she needs to watch DVDs all day. It is dreadfully rainy and windy today.

Daddy and Alexa all dressed up.

Well today was a fairly simple and unexciting day, but I tried to take a picture of Alexa and her daddy all dressed up nice for Sunday. The usual problems with family photos are here evident. If one person smiles the other does not, and if both smile, the eyes are closed. I think the problem with Alexa's pictures lately is the annoying red eye prevention feature. It prevents red eye by flashing a bunch of times so that your eyes close and voila, no red eye.

Lisa, Marissa and Brendan visit

On Saturday Lisa and her two munchkins came to visit. Lisa needed to study for a test she has to take, so the idea was to let Marissa and Alexa play, I would play with Brendan and Lisa would study. This was fun for the most part. Marissa is a bit of a princess, when I tried to serve her pizza to her on a paper towel she wanted a plate. I have also noted an interesting thing about both Clinton who visited Thursday and Marissa - when they want something they will keep asking me for it every 20 minutes or so, evidently hoping I will give them a different answer if they just wait a few minutes. Marissa wanted the "little people that go with the pink minivan" and Clinton wanted the other cymbal. Maybe all three year olds are this persistent. Then Marissa and Alexa took a bath together. Marissa called me in to show me that she was pouring cups of water over Alexa's head. Alexa was sputtering and trying to breathe, Marissa thought this was funny. I pointed out that this was conceivably less fun for Alexa than it was for Marissa. That is Marissa in the purple towel. And there is Lisa studying with a baby on her lap. A fun day for all.

Potty training adventures

Alexa was a busy girl on Friday. In the morning she decided to climb into her toy basket. Then I decided to try letting her run around without her clothes on for a while in hopes that we could get her to the potty as soon as she started to go. Well, this may have been a totally fruity idea, but I have been frustrated with trying to just put her on the potty every hour or so. She never does go while actually on the potty and I don't remember to put her on as often as I need to. So anyway, we spent 6 hours naked on Friday and Alexa made three deposits on the floor, I didn't manage to get her to the potty during any of them. She is so quiet about it. The nice thing was, that I put a couple of towels on the floor hoping to make cleanup easier, and the one poop she produced was neatly deposited on the towel when I wasn't looking. After 6 hours of nakedness I gave her a bath and put her clothes on. A few minutes later she took her toy vacuum and put it in the tub and got in herself. Have I mentioned that she adores baths?
