Alexa and I went to about 30 minutes north today to meet Mona and kids at Monmouth for a free outdoor concert. It was so perfect, the temperature is in the mid-70's and there was some shade and some sun. Clinton liked what he called Alexa's cowboy hat.The boys' grandma Cheryl came along too. Here she is with Doyle.
Clinton didn't really feel like getting his picture taken today, but he didn't fuss about it, just didn't look at the camera, and big meanie that I am, I took it anyway.
And here he is being a "baby"..Alexa likes this too sometimes.

Alexa does it by herself.
David and I have been trying to get a little better about doing physical therapy with Alexa at home, and one of the things we do is practice stairs. Since we don't have stairs, we set up two stepstools the other day and worked at going up and down. A little while later Alexa carried her stools outside and set them up next to the porch posts and started working on stepping up and down all by herself. I was so proud of her.
We took advantage of some sunny weather to go to the Aquatic Center on Friday. They have a really fun play area for kids in very shallow water with lots of water spouts and stuff and Alexa loved it! We went again yesterday with David.
Saturday we went to Eugene so David could work out some issues on a paper with his graduate school advisor, and Grandma Penny went with me to the Black Sheep Gathering. It was really fun-we got to see sheep and alpacas and lots of fiber.

Fun at the Fountains
Alexa's hair looked so wild I just had to take a picture. It was nice and warm so we went to get the swimming pool schedule, and then we went to the fountains by the riverfront to play.
It took her a while to get brave, but she eventually decided this was fun. The good part is that Alexa can play in the water without me having to get my swimsuit on and get wet.

We also took a nice bike ride with Alexa in the trailer. It was a really fun day for us.

A party for Clinton and Doyle
On Sunday afternoon we went up to Salem for a barbeque and some birthday cake for Clinton and Doyle. Clinton here just turned four. He is just six days younger than Alexa, which is kind of neat. See the neat cake with cows and horses on it!
His brother Doyle turned two a couple of weeks ago-so he got to blow out some candles too!
These pictures weren't very good because there was too much light coming in from the windows, but here is Owen and a little friend whose name I think may be Elise? There were LOTS of kids which was LOTS of fun, but I don't know everyone's name.

Playing at the park with Josh
When we finally got some nice warm weather last week, we wanted to play outside, so we Alexa and I met Martha, Josh and Zach (sp?) at the park. They had oodles of fun. There was a very patient dog there who would play fetch with Josh. Martha tried to help Josh throw the stick away from the dog, but usually he threw it right at the dog's head. Amazingly enough this dog could catch it anyway!

The first four years
Four years ago on June 9, 2004, Alexa was born in California. She came home with us about 6 weeks later. One year.
Two Three.
And FOUR!
My dear Alexa,
We are so happy you share your life with us. You have the most cheerful, outgoing personality. You reach out to strangers in grocery stores and doctors' offices and no one can resist taking your hand or smiling at you. This year you have begun to "talk" to us with your sign language. You love to eat many vegetables and fruits, but do not like breads. You adore the park and cry when we drive past it to Bible study. Curious George and other stuffed monkeys are your good friends and you play with them for hours in the laundry room. You adore books. We can't wait to see you grow in the next year,
We love you,
Mom and Dad

Computer Woes
The reason I haven't been posting is that my computer is very sick. I am using David's computer to write email and such, but have been waiting and hoping to get my computer fixed before I start uploading pictures again. My computer is randomly rebooting, at least that is what the Dell tech support keep calling it, but that is not a good description of the problem, since what is actually happening is that it turns off and tries to restart, but fails. We got it started in safe mode and backed up all my photos and iTunes to David's computer and "restored to factory image" as Dell calls it. This is really irritating because that erases everything that I have downloaded, the computer has to be set up all over again. And on top of that, it didn't fix the problem! As I was trying to email last night, it died again, so another hour on the phone talking to a Senior Technician from Dell, and the problem is still not fixed, so I am scheduled to be on the phone with him again tonight.
However, since this blog is supposed to be about Alexa, I will share two funny things that she did yesterday. I purchased some bedding plants and was outside planting them in the front yard, when I looked up to see that Alexa had grabbed one of the small plants out of the six pack, and just as I yelled "NO" she pulled the flowers off of it with her other hand. I believe she thinks she is weeding like mommy and daddy do. Later she went into the computer room and got her sign language DVD, came into the living room and put it into Daddy's computer and started watching it. She is learning such interesting new things lately!
